Hideyo is the creative partnership of Maya McDonell and Sam Beckman.
Over the last decade Sam has become increasingly immersed in photography. Through this he has been exploring interactions and relationships between people and the natural world. More recently, this has led to experimentation with camera movement and abstract landscapes.
Maya has taken a step back in recent years, although she continues to be business and moral support. Currently she is working in food and wellbeing, with a passion for supporting local growers and produce.
Hideyo ひでよ is a Japanese name, and Maya's mother's name. She was a talented and creative person, and we chose the name because Hideyo herself and Japanese culture and aesthetics in general are both strong influences on what we do.
